Anna Castelli Ferrieri

ITALY

Anna Castelli Ferrieri is among the first women to graduate in the Politecnico di Milano. She went through over seventy years of Italian architecture and design history, partner of Ignazio Gardella and editor of Casabella-Continuità with Franco Albini. In her life she met people as Pier Giacomo and Achille Castiglioni, Gae Aulenti, Ettore Sottsass, Joe Colombo. Anna Castelli Ferrieri - architect, teacher, and designer for brands like Arflex, Sambonet, Ycami - is above all the 'lady of the plastic': the art director and designer who influenced the Italian Kartell's address by determining the current experimental orientation. In 1966 her collaboration with the company founded by her husband began, until the use, in the 1970s and 1980s, of advanced technologies that transformed plastic into a printable, malleable and expressive material, decreeing success of a cutting-edge brand.
