Sambonet Filet Toiras flatware: a classic collection in steel and silver
Filet Toiras is one of Sambonet's classic flatware collections: a nineteenth-century drawing, recognizable by the raised filet that follows the outline of the handle and available as place settings, full sets and single pieces.
The filet that gives the collection its name
The defining trait of Filet Toiras is the raised line running along the edge of the handle and around its shaped tip. The motif comes from refined Piedmontese baroque and from post-Napoleonic English style, carried here with regular proportions and polished surfaces that catch the light on the table. The same profile is found on forks, knives, spoons and serving pieces, so a table put together over several years still reads as one.
Six finishes, three knife handles
Filet Toiras flatware is made in stainless steel. Mirror steel leaves the surface polished; silverplated steel adds the layer of silver of the goldsmithing tradition; the vintage and antique versions soften the shine for a quieter effect; mirror PVD gold and Diamond PVD white gold bring color without altering the shape. Table knives come in the standard version, with a Hollow Handle, or with a Hollow Handle Orfèvre — the hollow constructions give the knife more presence in the hand.
Place settings, sets and single pieces
The 5-piece place setting is the usual starting point and is available across the finishes, so a table can grow one setting at a time. For a full table there is the 60-piece set for 12 people. Beyond that, the collection is sold piece by piece: table, dessert, fish, butter, steak and pizza knives, butter spreaders, table, dessert, cake and fish forks, table, dessert, bouillon, French sauce, ice tea, tea and espresso spoons, plus serving spoons and forks, a ladle and a cake server. That is what makes Filet Toiras work as a first purchase and as a service completed over the years.
